Designing is the basis of any engineering system. There is no need to say once again that a correctly designed system will last a long time, while initially an incorrectly executed project will lead to errors during the installation, and if it is used, if there are no serious deviations in performance, then at least there is a probability in The completion of the system, which in one way or another is connected with financial costs.
This statement fully applies to the design of a structured cabling system, as part of the engineering system of the building as a whole. The SCS project should comply with design standards and standards, as well as take into account the specifics of the project, the possibility of changing the structure of the organization, the number of jobs and other aspects.
The stages of designing local networks can be divided into 3 main parts:
The basis for the creation of any project is the terms of reference (TOR). Ideally, the detailed technical assignment for designing the computer network should be provided by the Customer. Often, the Customer does not have specialists who could make a full TOR for LAN design, including all the parameters of the system. In this case, our engineers come to the rescue, who, together with the Customer’s employees, study all the details of the future LAN project, find out the needs and preferences. The result of the joint work is a full-fledged technical project, which will create a working draft of the local network.
Working draft of SCS
Having compiled and agreed with the Customer the technical assignment for network design, we proceed to create a working draft LAN. The working design of the local network includes all necessary documents, drawings, diagrams, logs and descriptions necessary for the production of works at the facility. The working draft of the LAN describes what, where, how and according to what standards, norms and rules should be installed at the facility. Before starting work, employees of our company necessarily coordinate working documentation with the Customer. Only after the work on the design of the network and the coordination, installation begins. For the correspondence of the performed work to the working draft of the SCS in our company, engineers-authors of local network projects watch. Such control is called author’s supervision. Any changes and deviations from the working draft of the LAN are promptly coordinated with the Customer and are entered into the project. Upon completion of work, executive documentation is issued.
After the completion of work on the site, after the testing of the SCS is completed, the executive documentation (ID) is produced. The ID in some way repeats the working draft of the SCS, but in turn takes into account all the changes made to the working draft of the SCS during the production of installation works, as well as the results of testing the cable lines. The executive documentation is transferred to the Customer and often to the maintenance service of the building where the SCS is installed. Documentation is necessary for system administrators, building maintenance, maintenance, and the ability to further upgrade the network.
After the design of the computer network has been completed and the working documentation has been created, according to which works will be carried out to build the cable systems at the site, it is necessary to monitor the compliance of the performance of the design documentation. This purpose is the author’s supervision – the next link of the technological chain when creating engineering systems. Author’s supervision implies constant participation and control over the installation technology by the technical control department of the installer company. The presence of this stage is extremely important, since it allows to avoid mistakes during the execution of works and excludes the possibility of inconsistency of the constructed system and the agreed project of the local network. It should be noted that in the process of performing work, it sometimes becomes necessary to adjust the working draft of the SCS. In this case, in the presence of author supervision, these moments can be implemented quickly and painlessly, with subsequent fixation in the executive documentation.
